BDSM as Neurodivergent Liberation
Service Description
This online training is for mental health professionals and students. It’s recommended to have already completed our Neurodiversity 101 course or an equivalent. As part of registering for training, we are assuming you have some basic understanding of BDSM and kink (e.g., you understand the roles of a top and bottom in a scene and the importance of consent and aftercare). National Coalition for Sexual Freedom. https://ncsfreedom.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Kink-Booklet-2024-Final.pdf In this training, you'll - -Learn about the Neurodiversity Paradigm’s roots in liberatory frameworks to support social justice practices -Deconstruct neuronormativity and formulate how BDSM functions for neurodivergent individuals and supports authenticity and liberation -Discover how to use liberatory approaches to support clients in challenging internalized ableism, neuronormativity, and other forms of oppression -Explore how BDSM can support those who experience chronic nervous system activation to downregulate or complete the stress cycle -Reflect on how to support neurodivergent and kinky clients in affirming, meaningful ways Training occurs on Zoom. A recording will be available for two weeks after the live training.
